Alphabetic characters are everywhere – this has been the basic assumption of the typographic workshop »Urban Type« conducted by Prof. Raymond Meier. The participants were looking for letter fragments in their daily surrounding which were identified as such only at second glance. We got inspired by e.g. walls, door bells, gully covers, fences, furniture, plants, vehicles, pavement slabs. I focussed on the public places in the centre of Berlin, more specifically on the left-overs of pigeons. Using numerous photographs, I developed an alphabet of pringeon excrements. The alphabetic letters have been printed collectively or individually as posters or post cards – somewhat different greetings from the German capital.
